Field Trip Report:

Gray Fossil Museum
Gray, Tennessee
January 31st, 2009

This is the first area that road workers discovered back in 2000. They were conducting routine road work when they unearthed fossil bones. The road was eventually re-routed around the site and the museum, dig site and fossil lab constructed.

Our tour included a visit to see the actual dig site. This is where several rhino skeletons were recovered.

After our outside tour was finished, we headed inside to view the lab. This is where they clean, preserve and reconstruct the fossils found.
